Kansas City Fiero Owners
Group in Christmas Parade

The
Kansas City Fiero Owners Group (KCFOG) took part in the Sedalia,
Missouri Chamber of Commerce Annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December
3rd at 10am. Despite the very cold weather there was a great turn out. This
was a great way to showcase the Fiero - and
introduce it to many who may not
have been familiar with the legendary car that we love! After the parade was
over, the group ate at the famous "Wheel Inn" drive in, the home of the
Guber Burger (a hamburger with peanut butter on it). This was a fun day and
the last club event of the year.

2005 Fiero Fun Fest
The
Kansas City Fiero Owners Group once again hosted their
Annual “Fiero Fun Fest" June 10-12. This was an indoor show held at
the Metro North Mall in Kansas City, MO. The weekend opened with
“Fiero Drag Racing” on Friday Night at the Kansas City International
Raceway. Events on Saturday included a Judged Show, “Guess the Fiero
Part” game, and awards ceremony. The indoor show was not affected by the
morning rain and Fiero owners from MO, IA, IL, KS, NE, and CO participated
in the show. As a special treat Paul Hosler, from Illinois, brought his
small block, tube frame IMSA race car which won Best of Show. This event
also celebrated the 20th anniversary of the 1985 Fiero.
Ralph and Eva Jensen from Gardner, KS won the award for the Quest for the Best
’85 Fiero with their black coupe. They were qualified to compete
for the Best ’85 in the Midwest at the "Fierorama" Show that was held
in September near Chicago, IL.

FieroRama 2005
Fierorama
2005 was a great show this year. In addition to the awesome GM
display, there were 162 Fieros entered in the show. Among the special
display cars were two PPG Pace cars, the first Fiero built, and the 1990
Fiero prototype (that looks very similar to the Trans Am). Fiero Owners came
from as far as California, making this the largest Fiero only show in the region
- if not the whole US. The show celebrated
the "Daily Driven Fiero" and was also a "Quest for the Best 85" event.
After the "Best 85" for the show was chosen, the overall "Best 85" was
chosen and the trophy was handed over. In addition to the class awards,
there were plaques given out for furthest distance to attend the show,
highest and lowest mileage, and best display. There were over $2000 in door
prizes given out and an auction to assist with show funding for next year.
Other weekend activities included a Cruise Night & Pizza Party on
Saturday evening (sponsored by V-8 Archie) as well as v_8 Archie's Open
House. The show was held in a large parking lot located next to a
McDonald's in Oak Brook, IL. As always, this was a fun show and was well
worth the drive.

A Fiero ... In Japan
? We found it interesting too. So - we asked
Takahiro Nakagawa, a frequent FieroFarm customer who lives in Tokyo, how he
acquired his Fiero. Here is his story...
"I took my Fiero back to Japan from
the USA with me. In 1985, when I visited Houston, it was my first trip to
the USA, I looked a nice two seater car in a town. It was a Fiero notchback.
Next year, I've got an opportunity to go to the USA on my business. I was
staying in Port Huron (a throat of the Lake Huron), MI for about one year.
As you know, a car is the necessities of life in the US. I bought my brand
new Fiero at that time.
So I am maintaining my Fiero for
about 19 years. I love Fiero and Fiero is my youth itself. The mileage is
still 18,000, however, the deterioration on the body paint became
noticeable, I did repainting last month. The drip rails were needed for the
repainting as the painter took off all body panels and repainted.
Fiero was also being sold here in
Japan from 1986 thru 1988 by GM agency. However their list price was
incredible. My memory said that 86 GT equipped with optional sunroof was
about 6.5 million yen ($40,000 USD) at that time. As a result, few Fieros
were sold in Japan. I was heard that only a few (around 10 - 20) Fiero still
remain in this country today." |

Todd Goes For a Ride...

Todd Weikal,
Fiero Specialist and owner of TheFieroFarm.com, took a ride in Pace Car #2,
of the original 3 built for the Indy 500. Pontiac brought this car to
Fierorama along with four other "one of a kind" Fieros. This Indy
"ride" made the 15 hour round trip to Fierorama well worth the time for
Todd.
Picture of
Todd in the Indy - grinning from ear to ear - provided by Vince Badali.

Fieros at The City
Market
To
celebrate the "Art of The Machine", area car clubs will be displaying at the
Kansas City - City Market in historic downtown Kansas City. The display for
Sunday, September 18th, was the KCFOG and The Heart of America Studebaker Club. This
leisurely Sunday event was not only a show n' shine, but also a great way for
the community to learn about the Fiero and the KCFOG. Members who
participated in the display met outside the main gate at 7:45 am.
The day started out a bit dreary, but by 10 am was clear and sunny. There
will be area car clubs displaying through October. Market
hours on Sundays are 8am to 3pm. For more details visit
kc-citymarket.com.
